About the Author
Ronald P. Grelsamer, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopedic surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. With over 70 publications to his name, Dr. Grelsamer has also authored The Patella – A Team Approach, along with a number of consumer-oriented books: The Columbia-Presbyterian Osteoarthritis Handbook, What Your Doctor May NOT Tell you About Knee Pain and Surgery (the first edition of this book), and What Your Doctor May NOT Tell you About Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery. Dr. Grelsamer's interests extend beyond orthopedics – he has penned Into the Sky with Diamonds, a history of the Beatles and the Race to the Moon.

A good read for persons with beginning knee pain!

After finishing this book, there shouldn't be too many questions left to be answered!. One caveat, however: I quote from the authors Introduction page: "Note that knee surgery referred to here (in the book) is outpatient surgery, namely arthoscopic surgery, not knee replacement surgery." Three years ago I had a total replacement of my left knee with very good results; I now need the same thing done to my right knee. I had purchased the book in anticipation of learning about the "latest and greatest" in knee replacement surgery, which it did not cover. This book is better directed to persons who are just beginning to experience knee pain, and want to learn what they can do about it before a total knee replacement is required.
