About the Author
Jason Siu was the former West Coast Editor of Modified Magazine. While working with Modified Magazine he wrote and photographed over 200 different articles. He is currently the co-owner and editor-in-chief of the Internet automotive publication, Tunerzine.com. His first project car was a 1999 Honda Civic Si that sported one of the first built LS/VTEC engines ever. He currently owns a 1994 Acura Integra project car that can be seen in Modified Magazine. His previous work experience within the industry includes being employed at Titan Motorsports and Enjuku Racing in Florida. He currently resides in sunny Southern California.

Life saver!

Used this book while I rebuilt my b16 engine. If you have never rebuilt and engine or you have before, this book is excellent! It provides concise instructions with very detailed color pictures. I had no idea what I was doing when I started, but the engine is back together and it runs! Perfect if you like getting your hands dirty and are a DIY type person.

The Elements is a genuine inspiration and I can't recommend it highly enough. Although I was already familiar with some of the “self-help” concepts presented in the book, the way Ricky lays out his understanding of complex esoteric teachings is truly unique. Coming from the school of hard knocks, Ricky has the life experience to know how one, in a practical way, can begin to improve their quality of life.

A Galloping Good Ride

I just love the books of Tess Oliver and "Cowboy Dark" is no exception. She is straightforward in her approach expertly creating a world that immediately draws the reader in. Her characters are powerful and I find that I can easily relate to them; therefore becoming totally invested in their outcomes. I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of this book and Tess agreed to let me share it with my students at school. The students loved the book especially the snarky humor and the horse riding tales.

Sterling Mayfield and her twin brother,Dylan lost their loving mother a year ago. Their father is barely maintaining but attempts to foster some family time by booking a vacation to a Dude Ranch. Dylan nor Sterling are looking forward to this trip; but, they will go to placate their Dad. Surprisingly, Dylan takes to the cowboy life better than anyone could imagine. Sterling on the other hand is strangely attracted to one of cowhands, a quiet and dark Luke. Luke is tattooed and a loner; but, he is amazing with horses. I for one truly could relate to the depths of Sterling's despair over losing her mother since I lost my mother 3 years ago. Oliver truly handled this situation beautifully.

The Sterling family is not the only visitors at the ranch. There is a doctor, his wife, their two electronically addicted boys and a mother and her beauty queen daughter,Chloe who both love to bathe in cologne. Hum......cologne and horse, not a very appealing combination. Chloe has an agenda all of her own and this little vacation may prove to be more interesting than anyone could ever guess. I will not reveal any more because I do not want to spoil it for you. Just pick up this novella and enjoy a really galloping good ride ( Okay, I'm sorry for the pun. LOL!).

Who doesn't like a cowboy

I love to read, but I am not much of a writer. When asked to give a review I hesitate not because of the book but my own inability to talk about my enjoyment of the book. So here it is my review of Cowboy Dark. This was a good interesting story about a girl on vacation to a Dude Ranch. Characters were well done and the different situations in the story were captivating. Was a clean story of attraction. I give it 4 stars.

Cowboy Dark is one of the 3 novellas in Tess Oliver's YA Vacation Romance Collection, and this novella tells the story of 16 year old Sterling Mayfield, whose Mother died of cancer two years prior, and so her Dad decides to do something with Sterling and her twin brother Dylan, to get back in touch with his children, and enjoy some time away from home. He books them a ten day vacation on a Dude Ranch and although Sterling would rather do anything but hang around her brother and a bunch of horses, she knows her Dad is suffering too, so she enthusiastically agrees to go on this vacation!

As soon as they get there, Dylan is horrified that there is no internet to play video games! There is also another family with two boys who are upset about the same thing. There are 3 different families that are there at a time so the experience stays unique! Right away however, a girl named Chloe and her mother are one of the other families, and they arrive and the cloud of perfume, the designer clothes and the air of being better than anyone is a start that is unfortunate!

However, When Sterling notices a "bad boy cowboy", named Luke, her attitude is completely changed ad she looks forward to seeing this cowboy every day! The only thing Sterling is worried about is being able to keep his interest and keeping herself up on a horse, as this is her first time around a horse and a ranch way of life altogether.

This book has a lot of emotional angst in it, and also it is nice to see that families can have a good time together. Between Chloe trying to be the best at everything and the most beautiful, and her mother Charlie trying to put the moves on Sterling's Dad, it gets quite interesting to say the least.

I gave this book 5***** stars and really like the way it ends, and I know you will enjoy this one!
