Inaccurate info

The amount of mistakes in this textbook is horrendous. And I mean factual mistakes, not your average run of the mill grammatical stuff. I don't refer to this book in my studies because I can't trust it.

Better editing needed.

Transaction was fine. The text appears as a series of copy and pasting entries as many phrases repeat one another, sometimes within the same paragraph. It covers a TON of content, so specificity suffers, but the editors could have consolidated many statements throughout. Also, more diagrams will help the reader. This book relies too heavily on straight text. Still, as a quick reference and not a definitive guide, this book suits its purposes.

I find this book unputdownable, even though it fills me at times with despair, disgust and irritation. Kenneth Williams was a British actor and comedian of the 50s, 60s and 70s with an acute intelligence and a unique gift for comedy. He was gay, and for many years of his working life homosexuality was illegal. His comic persona used the "camp" stereotype and private language in a way that was far funnier than others in the same (small) field, or anyone since (Julian Clary, Graham Norton). He was widely read, inventive and gifted at ad libbing and eventually earned a living on chat shows and panel games. He had many friends in the theatre who obviously enjoyed his company. He was an excellent writer, one of the things that makes this diary worth reading. His writing is often as funny and perceptive as you'd expect from his public persona, revealing the surreal in the ordinary. But the diary also reveals a man with a dark side, someone who never found a way of living that made him happy. You long to say "Kenneth! Get some therapy!" His self analysis too often turns into navel gazing. He was tortured by guilt over his sexual feelings, constantly making contradictory statements and apparently trying to persuade himself he was above all that. He could also behave appallingly to people -- all faithfully recorded. He clearly came home and wrote the diary, justifying what he'd done. He certainly brooded over wrongs, but he often records apologising and making up. He has flashes of self-insight - that he really only feels at home among people outside his theatrical set. He really was extremely talented - and bigheaded with it. He must have been a nightmare to have in a cast, constantly thinking he knew better and trying to take over. Particularly in the early entries, he sometimes waffles on pretentiously, using long words you feel he doesn't quite understand, and giving an imitation of someone being profound. Then he'll follow the pomposity with a hilarious bit of observation written in a direct and slangy way. As a warts and all portrait, this is unequalled. And incidentally gives a fascinating insight into the stage/screen/radio/TV of the period. Sadly, he took his own life.

Hard to put this book down. What a delight to find this resource. The intent of Professor Johnson is to preserve the wealth of knowledge he has found in his lifetime. He is generous. I feel he is respectful to those wanting to learn more. I was glad to find the material easy to understand. This was a wise purchase.

Great text book!

Dr.Johnson's books are well written and easy to read. He probably gives more info than most people want to know, but he is trying to give an in depth study of the material. I find it fascinating and extremely informative. If you want to learn to practice Medical Qigong with real understanding, this is the course to follow.

MIT Review presents terrific SF based on emerging and future science

Every year, the MIT Technology Review puts together an anthology of science fiction based on stories covered that year in the MIT journal. This time around, it features stories by Bruce Sterling, Annalee Newitz and almost a dozen more writers with some terrific art by Virgil Finlay. The short stories are really short, so you're getting a jam-packed collection of SF in about 200 pages. I'm not sure which story is my favorite. As I write this, it's Ilona Gaynor's "Lexicography of an Abusive but Divine Relationship with the World." Each story has a new statement to make about the future.

Talk about descriptive writing

Let me start this review out by saying that I am a long time fan of the entire CKY crew, which includes Novak. He is absolutely hilarious, and always has a genuinely interesting story to tell. When I found out that he had written a book a few years back, I had to have it. This book had my eyes glued to the pages, it was such a smooth and easy read, I absolutely loved it. The writing is so descriptive, which really helps paint a picture in your head as to what Novak really went through. Anyone who immediately labels him as a "scumbag" couldn't be more wrong, Brandon is a great dude, and this story is even greater. PICK IT UP!

I freaking loved this book. Not cuz I'm Novak and Bam Margera fan, but this book opened my mind bout junkies.

I'll recommend it to anybody who, or have someone in the family that has the drug addiction in the family.

What the fudge can I say. Novak brings up why he has the addiction, how it has come to that where he was and how he's going to live his life for now on.

I red this book recently but I'm going to read it again soon, because it's rad rhat we have these people here who have survived and who keeps on fighting against this addiction!

great book for all walks of life

This is an all around great book. It gives an honest no holding back view of addiction. I would recommend this book to any one no matter if drugs effect their lives or not. This book can appeal to all walks of life. You don't have to be fan of skateboarding or jackass to enjoy and more importantly learn this this story. This book is not preaching any type of message but let's the reader make their own conclusion. Recommend to ages and people.

Best comprehensive review book out there !

This book was recommended to me by a nursing professor. This is the newest edition so it wasn't highly reviewed on Amazon but from what I read on the previous editions reviews I decided to try it. I love that each section is broken down by systems. For example, the Adult Health unit is broken into respiratory, cardiac, hematology..etc. This aspect helps break the content up and I am able to focus in on what body system I am not the best with. I recommended this to all of my fellow nursing students as we prepare for the nclex.

I passed with 75 questions

This book has a lot of questions and rationales to help you understand. The online assess makes it better and helps you to pick as much as 265 questions (if you can handle it in one sitting ) I took my board and passed with 75 questions on july1st.
